Course Title: 40-Hour HAZWOPER for Construction (Initial Training)
This training is designed for general site workers—including laborers, equipment operators, and on-site supervisors—who are engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities that may expose them to health hazards at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. This course satisfies the mandatory off-site instructional requirements under 29 CFR 1926.65(e).
Mandatory OSHA Requirements for Completion:
Off-Site Training: Minimum 40 hours of initial instructional time.
Supervised Field Experience: In addition to this 40-hour course, employers must provide three (3) days of supervised field experience to fully meet OSHA certification requirements.
Annual Maintenance: Valid certification requires an 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher every 12 months.
Course Curriculum (Construction Specific)
This program integrates broad HAZWOPER requirements with industry-specific construction safety:
Hazardous Waste Operations: Site characterization, toxicology, and Hazard Communication (GHS/SDS).
Construction Safety Fundamentals: Focus Four Hazards (Falls, Electrocution, Struck-By, Caught-In/Between), Excavations, and Scaffolding.
Technical Safety & Health: Respirator Usage, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) levels, and Confined Space Entry.
Operational Procedures: Decontamination, spill containment, and Emergency Response Planning.

Cancellation Policy: A 21-day notice is required for all refunds. Cancellations made after this period or failure to attend will result in a forfeiture of the fee.
Attendance: Classes require a minimum number of attendees; dates are subject to change or rescheduling at MAST's discretion.
Note: For managers and supervisors, OSHA requires an additional 8 hours of specialized training at the time of job assignment.
